Maa Phire Elo (Mother Returns) is located in the luxurious area of South Kolkata inside the Rabindra Sarovar Complex. Set up in 2012, the museum keeps the awesome artwork and idols of Goddess Durga from the popular pandals put up during Durga Puja every year since 2012. There are amazing work installations created in open-air which have been kept separately as a section.
Durga Puja committees including Naktala Udayan Sangha and Bosepukur Talbagan display their artworks in the museum. The best idols and sculptures of the various pandals are chosen from all over the city by the government of Kolkata. It is because a lot of people come to visit the museum after the pujo every year and the government’s selection is honored in terms of the best idols of Durga. This exhibition is under the leadership of Kolkata’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Kolkata Municipal Development Authority (KMDA) works towards its maintenance.
