1) Sai Baba of Shirdi was a spiritual master of India who is admired and worshipped by his devotees of both Hindu and Muslim religions during and after his lifetime. Due to Sai Baba’s good work in his lifetime at Shirdi, the place became renowned all over the world in the last 100 years.

2) The first temple of Sai Baba is located at Kudal in Sindhudurg and it is believed to have been constructed in 1922. As per a story, Sai Baba gave one rupee to Dada Madye ji so that he could construct a temple in Kudal.

3) During the pre-coronavirus era, it is reported that an average of 25,000 devotees of Sai Baba visits the temple on a daily basis and during festival season, the devotee’s number can be up to 1 lakh people.

3) The Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi has been administered by the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust. The temple has the statue of Sai Baba and Samadhi made out of Italian marble and they are draped with royal cloth, adding a gold crown and decorated with fresh flower garlands. The interior is built out of old stone bricks.

4) You will be astounded to know that the temple has the interior and the exterior covered with gold. As per the rituals started since Sai Baba was alive, 4 aartis are organized on a daily basis inside the Samadhi Mandir such as:

  • Kakad Aarti (The Morning Aarti) at 4:30 (am)
  • Madhyan Aarti (The Afternoon Aarti) at 12:00 (pm)
  • Dhup Aarti (The Evening Aarti) 6:30 (pm)
  • Shej Aarti (The Night Aarti) at 10:30 (pm)

5) The Palanquin procession of Sai Baba is held on every Thursday from the Samadhi Mandir to Dwarkamayi, onward to Chavdi, and back to the Sai Baba Mandir.
