Things that will amaze you about Dombivli

Well, being a Dombivlikar, I can probably write almost a book on this city that is connected with the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. However, I will keep it short by highlighting the best things that will amaze you about this town-turned city in the Thane district of Maharashtra.

Being in the city for the last 30 years, I have heard many stories from people who lived in Andheri and Harbour line side of Mumbai. Like they would narrate to me that when they used to visit Dombivli some 40 years back, it looked like a forest area with very few shops and amenities. However, now it is fully developed with a good transport network to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and also many shops selling all types of items are in place.

Dombivli lies on the mainline of Central Railways and almost sees 3 lakhs commuters traveling in the local train on a daily basis for their work or college purposes. The interesting places to visit in Dombivli include Ganpati Mandir and Modern Cafe on the Phadke Road line, Shiv Mandir Road to get blessings from Lord Shiva’s temple and also roam out with friends in the Chaat counters and sweet shops, Pooja – Madhuban theatres nearby the station road in Dombivli Eastside.

If you want to visit banks then there are branches of all major banks in Dombivli like SBI, HDFC, ICICI, among others. If you are looking for street food items and even accessories and clothes to wear on a regular basis, that also you will find in a variety of shops that are spread across areas near the station. If you want to visit temples, then you will find temples dedicated to all Gods from Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, Devi, among others. Also, you will find people from different communities like Tamil, Malayali, Gujarati, Marathi, Marwadi, Jain, Muslim, among others living in harmony in apartment-style buildings that are set up near to each other on all the major roads. Rickshaw is the easiest to find to commute in Dombivli, buses are usually for long-distance routes that are also available near the station and various bus stops.
