Shifting travel behaviors of people due to the pandemic

A recent study done by Accenture said that 95% of respondents have made one permanent change minimum in their lifestyle since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease. The survey by the global professional services company has found that the pandemic situation has led to continuous change in the way people live, work, and network with others.

Titled Accenture’s Covid-19 Consumer Research, the study tries to understand the changing attitudes, behaviors, and habits of people all over the world on how they are adapting to a new reality. Work from home, change in the way travel is being done and looking for local products are a few of the lifestyle changes that people have made in the pandemic.

This can lead to making various industries rethink the way they will cater to the consumers who have adapted to the pandemic in the long run. The research was done on over 9000 people from 19 countries and it included 500 people from India. The changes found in the study are predicted to be long-term and have a huge impact on the functioning of the industries.

79% of the respondents shared that they want a third space location to do their office work than their home or workplace. This means hospitality and retail industries can see potential growth in the coming years. This means people would be more interested to work from their leisure travel places and avoid business travel to a considerable extent after the pandemic. Travel will see a huge change in the long run and there will be more demand for the leisure travel market that can adapt to consumers’ mindset, attitudes and behavior to make revenue out of the lost income.

It will be interesting to watch how the travel and tourism industry studies the trends of consumers in the post-pandemic world and come up with exciting pocket-friendly packages to lure them to buy them and get their losses recovered.
