George Everest House Mussoorie

George Everest House, also known as Park Estate, was the home and laboratory of Sir George Everest, built-in 1832. He was the former surveyor-general of India who lived in that house for 11 years. He helped the British to measure the altitude of Mt. Everest. After that, the peak, which was once called Peak XV, was named after him. At that time, the house was used as an observatory to view mountains, and now it is maintained by the government of Uttarakhand. From there, one can draw many history buffs and spend about an hour or two at the summit.
