Oppo Reno 5 4G launched with Snapdragon 720G, 90Hz screen: Know its price and specifications.

Oppo launched the 4G variant of the vanilla Reno 5 smartphone, called Reno 5 4G. In addition to the change in the chipset, a few things have been either downgraded or bumped up to make up for the lack of 5G on the successor to the Reno 4 4G in select markets. The smartphone has launched in Vietnam and is making its debut in Indonesia next month.

Much like previous generation Reno smartphones, the Oppo Reno 5 has several variants. The original ones have support for 5G, thanks to chipsets from MediaTek and Qualcomm. The 4G variants, however, are powered by Qualcomm chipsets only. And according to some rumours, the Reno 5 5G handsets that will be launched outside of China will ditch the MediaTek Dimensity processor for the Snapdragon 765G introduced earlier this year. The Oppo Reno 5 5G series is also supposed to launch in India, but it is likely to come with Dimensity 1000+ SoC because it was announced by MediaTek earlier this month.

Oppo Reno 5 4G price

The Oppo Reno 5 4G is significantly cheaper than its 5G counterpart. The smartphone costs VND 8,690,000, which translates to roughly Rs 27,500. On the other hand, the Reno 5 5G costs around Rs 30,000, based on its Chinese price conversion. This original launch took place in Vietnam, and it will now be launched in Indonesia on January 12.

Oppo Reno 5 4G specifications

–The most crucial difference between the Oppo Reno 5 4G and Reno 5 5G is the processor.

–Instead of the Snapdragon 765G processor that powers the Reno 5 5G, the Reno 5 4G comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor.

–This processor also powers the Reno 4, so there would hardly be any difference between the Reno 5 4G and Reno 4 in terms of performance.

–But to make up for that, Oppo has made some changes to other specifications, as well. And the biggest bump-up from the Reno 5 5G to Reno 5 4G is the front camera.

–Instead of the 32MP selfie camera, the Oppo Reno 5 4G has a 44MP front-facing camera.

–This one, too, is housed inside the punch-hole on the left corner of the smartphone.

–The Reno 5 4G has the rear cameras the same as those on the 5G version.

–The setup comprises a 44MP primary camera, an 8MP super-wide camera, 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome camera. Feature-wise, the Oppo Reno 5 4G has the Ultra Night mode and AI Portrait.

–The Oppo Reno 5 4G has a 6.4-inch 1080p AMOLED display with support for 90Hz refresh rate.

–It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor for added security. Backing the processor is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 256GB.

–The Reno 5 5G has another variant with 12GB RAM besides this one, so another difference is between the two variants. The Oppo Reno 5 4G also runs on Android 11-based ColorOS 11 software.

Fuelling the Oppo Reno 5 4G is a 4310mAh battery that charges at up to 50W, instead of the 4300mAh battery with 65W fast charging on the Reno 5 5G.
