BlackBerry will be discontinuing significant services on January 4 – Read Details.

BlackBerry has announced that it will stop providing major services for current smartphones in 2022. BlackBerry handsets will be without provisioning services starting January 4. Users will be unable to connect to networks, including mobile phone networks, after this.

Years ago, BlackBerry’s keyboard-centric designs caused quite a stir in the smartphone business. Customers in the business world were among the most demanding, as they expected the firm to provide a high level of anonymity and confidentiality.

BlackBerry’s keyboard design slipped well behind the curve as the smartphone industry grew to include touchscreen devices. Users were more interested in exploring the newly introduced touch screen interface, which first resembled affordable BlackBerry devices. BlackBerry, on the other hand, continued to defend itself, claiming that on-screen keywords are very popular and that businesspeople will continue to be their loyal customers. The company has opted to stop offering its own services after trying to stay afloat in an android-dominated industry.

Newer cell phones feature improved hardware, which raises their value in the eyes of users. The firm has previously sold its branded license to a few manufacturers while continuing to provide corporate security services.

Even after January 4, BlackBerry will continue to support older handsets running its proprietary software. Many people are still using BlackBerry’s old devices, which received their last software upgrade in 2013. The company will no longer respond to questions about provisioning updates for its handsets.

Users of BlackBerry’s older devices should be aware that as of January 4, their devices will not be able to connect to Wi-Fi or cellular networks. The devices will be as good as toy phones because they will not have data, SMS, calls, or 911 capabilities.

On the same day, BlackBerry World and BlackBerry Link will be terminated.
