The World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship has started in Kazakhstan’s capital Almaty today. The World Rapid Championship will be played on the first three days of the tournament from 26 to 28 December while the World Blitz Championship will be held on 29 and 30 December.
About 300 veteran players from 43 countries are going to participate in this chess tournament.
Vidit Gujarati will be the top player for India in men’s players, and Arjun Arigasi will be the top player in blitz, besides Nihal Sarin, Pantala Harikrishna, D Gukesh, Surya Shekhar Ganguly, SL Narayanan, Arvind Chidambaram.
On the other hand, talking women players, Koneru Humpy, Dronavalli Harika, Vaishali R, Padmini Raut, Tania Sachdev, and Divya Deshmukh will be the main players in the women’s section.
Vishwanathan Anand from India won the world rapid title in 2017 in the men’s category and Koneru Humpy in the women’s category in 2019.
