Shastri’s contract as India’s head coach is slated to expire after the T20 World Cup, and the 59-year-old has already stated that he will not seek a renewal, leaving the BCCI to explore for replacements.
Moody, who led the Sunrisers to their first IPL triumph in 2016 with compatriot David Warner as captain, was their coach for seven years from 2013 to 2019. Before being named the franchise’s director of cricket, he was succeeded by former England World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss. Moody has previously worked as a coach in Sri Lanka.
