The French prodigy joins Sir Geoff Hurst in the elite list

Whenever the history books will write the Sunday night of the 18th of December, they probably keep the Argentine legend Lionel Messi at the top for leading his team to a World Cup. But it would never be completed without discussing the lion who fought till the end for his team, the name is none other than the 23-year-old sensational center-forward Kylian Mbappe.


The Paris-born prodigy revived the hopes of France from where nobody expected even a goal from them. Argentina was comfortably leading with a score line of 2-0 in the match. Messi’s men were comfortably heading towards the end of the match with 10 minutes to spare, but Mbappe had some other plans in his mind on the day.


Here’s how Mbappe turned the tables in an all-important match for France


He came up with a stunning goal on a penalty awarded to the French outfits in the 80th minute of the match. La Albiceleste were just processing with this goal of Mbappe and he amazed them in the very next minute of the match with a sensational field goal in the 81st minute of the match.


Thanks to these brilliant heroics from the PSG front man, France forced Argentina to go till the extra time as the match ended on a tie with a score line of 2-2.


During the first half of the extra time, Lionel Messi smashed a goal in the 108th minute of the match take Argentina into a leading position. But it was Mbappe who came again between win and France. Messi’s PSG teammate compelled him to wait till the penalty shootout for the result of the match with a stunning goal in the 118th minute during second half of the extra time.


The third goal marked the historic FIFA-final hattrick on the name of Mbappe. With achieving this feat, he also became the only player in the history of FIFA World Cup to hit a hattrick after England’s former legendary striker Sir Geoff Hurst 56 years back in the year 1966.


Notably, Sir Geoff Hurst also took to twitter to lavish his praises on French prodigy.
“Many congratulations to Mbappe, whatever happens. I’ve had a great run!” read the tweet posted by the World Cup winner striker of England.
