New Delhi: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has expressed concern about the financial condition of BCCI in the event of not having IPL this year. Former Indian captain Ganguly said that if the 13th season of IPL is not held due to the corona virus epidemic, then the BCCI will incur a loss of about 4000 crores.
The IPL was scheduled to begin on March 29 this year but was postponed until April 15 after the Indian government halted foreign visas due to Corona and was again postponed indefinitely after the lockdown escalated.
4000 crores will be lost
According to the HT report, Ganguly told Mid-Day, ‘We have to assess our financial situation, see how much money is there and then decide. If there is no IPL, there will be a loss of about 4000 crores, which is quite high.
The former Indian opener also hinted at players’ salary cuts in the absence of IPL. Ganguly said, “If IPL happens then we will not have to take a pay cut, we will manage things.”
No cricket behind closed doors
Giving a response to this, the IPL has also been advised to be held behind closed doors without spectators, Ganguly said that in such a situation the attraction of this league will be reduced. Ganguly said, ‘Yes, the attraction will decrease. I remember playing in such a situation (when he was not allowed to come on the last day after an audience disruption at Eden Gardens) against Pakistan in the Asian Test Championships in 1999 and there was a clear lack of enthusiasm at the time. ‘
