Mumbai. Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has been elected the new chairman of the BCCI. He then said that, this is a great opportunity for him to do something good as he is taking over the reins of the board at a time when his image has suffered a serious blow.
Obviously, it looks great because I have played for the country and captained the country. And I am taking charge at a time when BCCI is not in the biggest position for the last three years. Its image has been severely disrupted. The former Indian captain said that this is a good opportunity for me.
Ganguly also said that in the short term his first priority would be to take care of “first class cricketers”. The 47-year-old has plans to meet all stakeholders in Indian cricket and wants to do something that the Committee of Administrators (COA) did not do for 33 months.
He said, “We will talk to everyone because we will decide but my biggest priority will be to take care of the first class cricketers. I had requested them for COA for three years and they did not listen. This is the first thing I will do, I will see. After the financial health of our first class cricketers, “said Ganguly, who scored more than 18,000 international runs.
Said that he is elected unopposed is a big responsibility, whether it is uncontested or not, but is the largest organization in world cricket. Financially India is a cricket powerhouse, so it will be a challenge. Do they regret that the term will only be for nine months?
Sourav Ganguly further said that yes, it is the rule and we will deal with it.
