International Cricket Council chairman Shashank Manohar has resigned after completing two terms. Manohar was appointed as the independent chairman of the ICC for the first time in 2016. According to ICC rules, Manohar could hold his post for two more years as a maximum of three terms are allowed.
Now Vice Chairman Imran Khawaja will take over as the interim chairman till the election process is determined. The election process for the new chairman is expected within the next week.
“ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar has stepped down after two terms of two years in office,” the ICC said in a release. The ICC Board met today (1 July) and agreed that Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja will continue to hold the responsibility of the chairman until the selection of the successor. “
Former Cricket West Indies (CWI) chief Dave Cameron is in the race to replace India’s Shashank Manohar as the next ICC president.
