The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to organize a national camp for its contracted players in Dubai. However, the board will take this decision only when the United Arab Emirates (UAE) gets to host the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The UAE’s name for hosting the world’s largest domestic T20 league is fast emerging. The board has a meeting of the Apex Council on 17 July, in which it can be decided.
The BCCI is ready to hold the T20 World Cup, but the board is waiting for the decision of the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in October-November this year, but it is more likely that the tournament will be postponed due to Corona. According to BCCI sources, India is already thinking of getting IPL matches at least places. Initially, the tournament was being considered in Mumbai, Pune and Navi Mumbai, but this seems unlikely due to Corona’s increasing influence.
In these conditions, the only option before the BCCI is to match outside India. These issues will be discussed in the Apex Council meeting on 17 July. According to media reports, apart from the IPL, the board is considering organizing a fitness camp for the Indian team players. Players have not been together since lockdown. If the conduct of the IPL in the UAE is confirmed, then it will be easy to join the players together. After this, they will join their respective franchisees.
