Chennai: Fast bowler Ishant Sharma became the sixth Indian bowler to take 300 Test wickets along with the wicket of batsman Daniel Lawrence on Monday, the fourth day of the first Test match in Chennai against England. He also became the third fast bowler to achieve this feat from India.
Ishant in his 98th Test match had taken his wicket tally to 299 with two wickets in the first innings. He achieved this feat by taking a wicket in the second innings. Ishant now joins the ranks of India’s legendary bowlers Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Ravichandran Ashwin (382) and Zaheer Khan (311), taking 300 wickets.
Ishant’s best performance in the Test is 7 wickets for 74 runs. He has taken 11 wickets five times and ten wickets once.
