ENG vs PAK: Second day too interrupted by rain, Pakistan scored 223 runs for 9 wickets

Southampton: The second Test match is being played between England and Pakistan at Southampton. For the second day, Pakistan have scored 223 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Due to poor light, the day was soon concluded. England have held a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series.

Batting first after winning the toss in the match, Pakistan started poorly. Opener Shaan Masood (1) soon returned to the pavilion. Abid Ali then added 72 runs for the second wicket with captain Azhar Ali.

Abid Ali 60, Azhar Ali 20 returned to the pavilion. Pakistan’s score was 102/3 till their dismissal. After this, Asad Shafiq (5) and Fawad Alam (0) also made quick progress and Pakistan scored 126 runs losing 5 wickets till the rain disrupted first day’s game.

When the game started on the second day, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played to some extent. Both did not let the wicket fall in the first session and shared a 38-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Babar Azam was dismissed for 47 and Yasir Shah (5), Shaheen Afridi (0) and Mohammad Abbas (2) were soon followed. The game was stopped soon due to poor light on the second day, till then Pakistan had scored 223 runs after losing 9 wickets. England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad have gone 3-3.
