Pakistan captain Babar Azam has overtaken Indian team captain Virat Kohli to reach the first position in the ICC ODI rankings, besides Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has also made a long jump.
Babar Azam has been ranked number one in the ICC ODI rankings released today with 865 points, surpassing long-standing first-ranked Virat Kohli (857 points). Babar Azam got the benefit of the excellent batting in the recently concluded three-match series against South Africa, in which he also scored a century. Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has joined the list of top ten batsmen after a big leap. Fakhar was number 12 in the rankings released earlier, but by scoring another century in the third ODI, he gained five places in the rankings and moved from 12th to eighth.
Rohit Sharma still remains at number three in the rankings, while Ross Taylor and Aaron Finch at number four and five are saving their positions.
