Cape Town: A superb innings by David Warner and Aaron Finch helped Australia beat South Africa by 97 runs in the third and final T20 International cricket match to win the three-match series 2-1. In Johannesburg, Australia had won the first match by a record 107 runs and it was repeated again on Wednesday.

South Africa’s captain Quinton de Kock’s decision to field first proved to be wrong. A 120-run partnership for the first wicket between Warner (57) and captain Finch (55) and Steve Smith’s unbeaten 30-run knock off 15 balls helped Australia to a big score of 193 for five and After this, South Africa were piled on 96 runs in 15.3 overs.

This is seven runs more than South Africa’s minimum score in Johannesburg. Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc bowled De Cock in the first over. He then sent former captain Faf du Plessis to the pavilion and took three wickets for 23 runs. He was voted Man of the Match.

Spinner Ashton Egger took three for 16 and Adam Jampa took two for ten. Only four batsmen from South Africa reached double digits, with Rossi van der Dussen scoring the highest 24 runs.
