Ahmedabad: Team India has a historic win at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Team India, captained by Virat Kohli, has defeated England by 10 wickets. With this, Team India has taken a 2–1 lead in the four-Test series. The final and decisive match of the series is to be played on this ground between March 4-8. The heroes of victory were Akshar Patel and R Ashwin. While Akshar Patel took 11 wickets in the match, R Ashwin took 7 wickets.
Batting first after winning the toss, England were reduced to 112 runs. The team’s opener Jack Crowley scored the most 53 runs. Apart from him, only 3 batsmen could touch the double figures and England collapsed for 112 runs in 48.4 overs. For India, Akshar Patel took 6 wickets for just 38 runs in 21.4 overs. Apart from him, Ashwin took 3, while Ishant Sharma took 1 wicket.
For India, opener Rohit Sharma scored 66, while captain Virat Kohli scored 27, which somehow helped the team reach a score of 145. However, Team India definitely achieved the lead of 33 runs. England captain Joe Root took 5 wickets for just 8 runs in 6.2 overs. Apart from them Jack Leach hunted 4 and Jofra Archer hunted 1.
India dismissed England for 81 runs in the second innings on the second day. 8 batsmen of England could not even touch the figure of ten. Ben Stokes scored the highest 25 runs for the team. For India, Akshar Patel took 5 wickets while Ashwin took 4 wickets. India thus got a target of 49 runs to win.
Chasing the easy target, India won the match at the beginning of the third session. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill shared an unbroken 49-run partnership in 7.4 overs to give India a 10-wicket win.
Star of spinner R Ashwin has taken 400 wickets in Test cricket. He did this by getting Jofra Archer out of LBW. Ashwin has become the fourth Indian bowler to take 400 wickets.
