New Delhi: Former India player Narendra Modi has dismissed allegations of nepotism in the Indian team Aakash Chopra. Akash says the players are not getting any benefit from being selected for the national team. Akash exemplifies Arjun Tendulkar and Rohan Gavaskar as examples.
Arjun is a frequent visitor to the UK. Arjun has also got a lot of experience playing ball for the Indian team and for England team. There was also the case of Englishman Johnny Bairstow getting injured in Arjun’s ball. Arjun also plays for the Indian women’s team.
Akash Chopra said Arjun Tendulkar’s son was not getting any benefits. Arjun’s entry into the Indian team is not easy. Even the India Under-19 squad will not have any unnecessary choices. Akash pointed out that the best part of the game is just the way a player can get to the team. Arjun was selected for the Indian under-19 squad for the youth test but has not yet made it to the Mumbai Ranji squad. Arjun has not been able to get into any IPL squad.
Akash also said Rohan Gavaskar was not part of his father’s side. Rohan has not been able to spend much time in the national team. The Indian team came through with nothing but consistency. Rohan has never played for Mumbai with the support of Gavaskar. The former opener explained that the player played in the Ranji Trophy for Kolkata. Rohan has played 11 ODIs for India. The player, who struggled to find consistency in the national team, lost his place.
