It is Diwali season and it is very obvious that sweets and salty items will be displayed everywhere you go. Even if you invite friends to your home or make a plan to visit your relatives, there will be a lot of foods and delicacies that are too tempting and delicious. Diwali is that season of the year wherein it is just too difficult to control your food cravings.
Amazing places to travel this Diwali 2022
If your partner is craving more and more delicacies and your family doctor has advised NO to such foods, then here are some ways how you can help your partner in the temptation journey.
1) Don’t say NO:
Well, your family doctor has done his part in exercising control over your partner’s diet. But your partner didn’t marry him or her. He married you and being a good wife or husband, it is your duty to care for him/her without him/her feeling agitated. So, don’t straightaway say NO when your partner asks you to give him that extra bowl of gulab jamuns. You can simply give him one piece if he asks for five. You can replace his cravings for four more gulab jamuns by giving him seasonal fruits that he loves the most. Remember you cannot hurt his stomach to save his life because it is not going to be an easy journey to do so.
2) Get regular check-ups done:
Well, your partner may have this habit of even hiding from you what he ate at the office canteen or even when he went out with his friends. In fact, you never know if your partner eats up some chocolate bars whenever he feels like it and lies to you showing that he is managing his sweet cravings. In order to know what is right and wrong, it is always better to get his sugar levels monitored by doing routine check-ups, either at home or in a lab.
3) Teach him the importance of moderation:
Well, your partner is an adult and his brain is always aware of the side effects of eating many sweets, especially when the doctors have warned against it. So, it is better you give him the idea of the healthiest portion size rather than increasing his cravings for sweets. You can give him sugarless delicacies that are made exactly how he wants but without sugar or gur. You can also find out alternative sweet options wherein your partner eats them and satisfies his cravings.
You never know if your partner genuinely wants to quit or reduce his sweets temptations but is unable to because he has some sort of stress that he is unwilling to share. Why don’t you become a companion in such times to help him understand how his health matters to you the most? Probably seeing your sweet words and behavior will make him get rid of the temptations and take charge of his life like never before.
By the way, Happy Diwali to you and your loved ones. Eat sweets but also make it a point to check on your diet after Diwali and be safe.
