Former Congress Leader, Jagmohan Singh Kang join AAP with his sons

Former cabinet minister Jagmohan Singh Kang and his two sons Yadvindra and Amarinder joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi on Tuesday, angry at the Congress leadership for ignoring his family when allocating the party ticket for the Kharar assembly seat.

Kang was a three-time cabinet minister and served in the Congress for 47 years. He had been seeking the party’s ticket for his son Yadvindra from Kharar, and had even claimed that his son would run as an Independent, but he has now decided to back AAP candidate Anmol Gagan Mann.

“This is not the same Congress I served in for almost four decades.” “I have joined the AAP with my boys because of its clean image and policies,” Jagmohan Singh Kang said, adding, “We will be supporting Anmol Gagan Mann and ensuring she wins.”

Vijay Kumar Sharma, the chairman of the district planning board in Mohali, was given the Kharar ticket by the Congress.

Ranjit Singh Gill, a realtor, has been chosen by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) as its candidate. In 2017, he came in third place.

Kamaldeep Saini is running for the Punjab Lok Congress (PLC), while Paramdeep Singh Baidwan is running for the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha (SSM).

Kanwar Sandhu of the AAP defeated Jagmohan Singh Kang of the Congress by 2,000 votes in the 2017 assembly elections.

The AAP won only one of the 27 seats in the Kharar municipal council elections in February of last year. The Congress won ten seats, the SAD eight, and independents eight.
