Jalandhar, Punjab: A Jalandhar court on Friday ordered Bhupinder Singh alias Honey, the nephew of Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, to be held in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) until February 8.

Bhupinder Singh was arrested in a money laundering case relating to alleged illegal sand mining in the border of the state, Singh was nabbed late Thursday night by ED agents.
After several hours of questioning at the agency’s Jalandhar headquarters, they said the Punjab Chief Minister’s nephew was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

This incident happened ahead of the Punjab Polls and led to a target on Channi by the opposition. Meanwhile, the people of Punjab will vote on 20 February as the state will vote in a single phase. The results of the election will be announced on 10 March 2022.
