Meerut : The new year is likely to begin with the rain in Meerut, which is under the grip of severe cold and fog. According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold conditions have been prevailing in most areas of the state and the mercury has reached 4:9 degree Celsius in Meerut early this morning.
Weather patterns are not expected to have a significant change in the coming days. The rainfall is expected in several areas on 31st December and 1st January. Agriculture expert Dr. RS Sengar said that the cold wave conditions in Meerut are not likely to fall at present.
However, the rain is likely to change in the direction of winds and western disturbances from 30th December today. The eastern and western parts are expected to be drizzle with thunderous flashes on December 31 and January one. During the last 24 hours, the cold in the district has broken the record for the last ten years. While the district’s temperature had come down to 4 °c for some time at 5 o’clock in the morning. The cold wave has taken a serious look at the western disturbance.
Dr. M. Shamim, senior meteorological scientist at the Institute of Agricultural Systems, believes that the cold increases at this time due to low solar radiation. The Hills are continuously snowfall due to the West disturbance. The heat load of north-west winds that run with the effect of this West disturbance decreases. Winds are constantly in constant contact with the icy peaks until far away during the flow. The same winds wreak havoc in the field. Geographer
Dr. Kanchan Singh said that the winds in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar come from the Dhannotic mountain ranges above Mussoorie.
Dr. M Shamim said that there may be drizzle somewhere in NCR on 1st and 2nd January. Then the mercury will fall. There is no possibility of cold relief till 14th January. The Meteorological Department has expressed apprehension about hailstorm elsewhere.
