Bhopal: Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Uma Bharti has kept up her campaign against the sale of liquor in the state and threw cow dung at an ale shop in Orchha town, Niwari district. The incident came to light after a video clipping went viral on social media on Tuesday evening.
The former chief minister has been demanding a total ban on the sale of liquor for a long time. Earlier, she threw stones at a liquor shop in Bhopal and staged a sit-in outside another outlet. As far as her drive against liquor shops goes, it has, so far, been confined to Bhopal. But, for the first time, she expressed her anger outside the state capital. After throwing cow dung, she tweeted that the shop was opened at a wrong place, so it is a crime to set up such an outlet in the holy town of Orchha. On the contrary, the police said that the shop was opened at a place authorised by the administration.
She was furious to see a liquor shop in the religious town which is famous for the Ram Raja temple, located 330 km from Bhopal. In the video clip, Bharti was heard telling the person shooting the video, “See, I have thrown cow dung and not pelted stones.” She also tweeted that many people handed over memorandums to the administration, urging the officials to remove the liquor shop from that place. According to Bharti, the liquor shop was open on the day of Ram Navami when nearly half a million lamps were lit on Ram Raja temple which is as holy as Ayodhya shrine.
