Kolkata. Senior TMC MLA and former Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, Sabyasachi Dutta, joined the BJP on Tuesday in the presence of BJP National President Amit Shah.
In a seminar on NRC headed by Shah, Datta was handed the party flag by BJP state president Dilip Ghosh. Later, Shah embraced Dutta and welcomed him to the party.
Datta said, “For me the country and its interests are much larger than the interests of the individual or any party. India has achieved new heights under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Dutta, who joined the loggerheads with TMC leadership, resigned as the mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation in July this year.
