PoliticsCP Radhakrishnan Replaces Jagdeep Dhankhar as Rajya Sabha Chairman

Date:

News Desk – After more than two years of Jagdeep Dhankhar in the role, the BJP has chosen CP Radhakrishnan as the new Rajya Sabha Chairman. The move is being seen as a big shift in style and strategy.

Dhankhar was known for his sharp, outspoken, and confrontational approach. Opposition parties often accused him of being partisan and ending the neutral image of the post. His earlier stint as West Bengal Governor also saw constant clashes with Mamata Banerjee’s government.

Radhakrishnan, on the other hand, is known to be calm, inclusive, and strategic. He has deep roots in the BJP’s ideology, with links to the RSS and Jan Sangh since the age of 17. Unlike Dhankhar, who came from a legal-political background, Radhakrishnan is seen as a natural fit with the party’s core.

Analysts say his appointment signals two things:

The BJP’s continued focus on OBC social engineering and its expansion plans in South India.

A need for balance in the Rajya Sabha rather than aggression.

Radhakrishnan has also played an active political role in Tamil Nadu, responding strongly to DMK leaders’ remarks on Sanatana dharma and reaching out to Chief Minister MK Stalin. But his style has been more about institutional experience than loud confrontation.

Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on the first day of the current Parliament session, officially citing health reasons. However, reports suggest that his sudden exit came after tensions over his decision to accept the Opposition’s proposal for impeachment of Justice Yashwant Varma without informing the government.
