New Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa:The Congress workers and leaders continued to protest the grilling of their leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the National Herald case. Sachin Pilot whom the Delhi police detained outside the party office on Wednesday said on Thursday that the country was watching what the government was doing. Pilot told his supporters that the police entered the party office and rained lathi blows on the Congress leaders and workers. He thanked the party workers for remaining united and for organising peaceful protests. The charges against Rahul Gandhi are baseless, he said.

In Panaji, the Congress workers were detained on their way to Raj Bhawan. Laying siege to Raj Bhawans across the country was part of the Congress’s agitation. The Congress workers wanted to meet the Governor, but they were prevented from doing that, said Youth Congress president of Goa, Varad Mardolkar.

In Hyderabad, the members of the Congress’s student wing, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), tried to lay a siege to the Raj Bhavan. Taking the police by surprise, NSUI leaders and workers reached Raj Bhavan around 5.30 am. Raising slogans against the Narendra Modi government, NSUI’s Telangana unit leaders and workers sat in front of the Raj Bhavan. The police arrested the protesters and shifted them to a police station.

After meeting Birla, Chowdhury said, “We have informed the Speaker about the manner in which we have been subjected to violence and atrocities. The Speaker listened to us.
