Formal announcement is yet to be made. Chandrashekhar Azad, head of the Bhim Army, has been campaigning for SP-RLD candidates for by-elections
Lucknow: The Bhim Army led by Chandra Shekhar Azad is all set to join the Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance in Uttar Pradesh, sources said on Thursday.
Azad has been campaigning in Khatauli and Rampur for the SP-RLD candidates. Nevertheless, a formal deal is yet to be announced, sources further said.
Political analysts say the presence of Azad will help the SP-RLD candidates to woo Dalit voters in the by-elections to be held in Khatauli and Rampur.
Political observers further say that RLD chief Jayant Choudhary has played a critical role in sinking the differences between Akhilesh Yadav and Azad.
There were certain misunderstandings between Yadav and Azad, so an alliance between them could not take place. Azad was in Rampur on Wednesday and met veteran leader of SP Azam Khan. Azad extended his support to the SP candidate contesting the assembly by-poll from there. Besides, he has been electioneering for the RLD candidate in Khatauli.
