Aurangabad: Shiv Sena once again showed its strength in the Gram Panchayat elections across the district on Monday by winning 360 Gram Panchayats out of 616, on which elections were held on last Friday.
According to MLC and district president Ambadas Danve, Shiv Sena won 73 seats in Vaijapur taluka, 77 in Paithan taluka, 67 in Sillod taluka, 39 in Kannad taluka, 15 in Aurangabad taluka, 37 in Gangapur taluka, 28 in Soygaon taluka, seven in Khultabad taluka and 17 in Fulambri taluka on its own.
With the help of it’s alliance partner Congress and NCP, the party managed to grab power in 72 other Gram Panchayats, Mr Danve said in a statement here.
With this, total 472 Gram Panchayats will be under the Shiv Sena rule, he added.
He said in the previous Gram Panchayat elections, 287 Gram Panchayats were under the control of Shiv Sena.
