Lucknow: After the power-packed election of the Local Authority Constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC), now the result is awaited. The results of the UP MLC elections are being declared today. The counting of votes is going on here. The fate of 95 candidates is to be decided on 27 MLC seats. Let us tell you that there are total 36 seats in the UP Legislative Council. Out of this, 9 members have already been elected unopposed. After the counting of ballot papers, the result is expected by 4 pm today.
In most of the districts, BJP candidates are ahead and independent candidates have gained in Azamgarh and Varanasi: Pawan Singh Chauhan of BJP from Sitapur, Dinesh Pratap Singh from Rae Bareli, KP Srivastava from Prayagraj, Pranshu from Farrukhabad in the first round of counting of votes for the election of Legislative Council member. Dutt Dwivedi, Haripratap Singh from Pratapgarh, Vandana Verma from Saharanpur and Avinash Singh from Fatehpur are leading. From Azamgarh, Independent Vikrant Singh Rishu from Azamgarh and Annapurna Singh, an independent from Varanasi, has made an edge over other candidates.

Voting was held on Saturday for 27 seats out of 36 vacant MLC seats in Uttar Pradesh. Counting of their votes is taking place on Tuesday. Uttar Pradesh Election Commission has declared Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Bahraich, Gonda, Ayodhya, Basti, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Ballia, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Fatehpur Counting centers have been set up in Farrukhabad, Agra, Meerut and Saharanpur. Counting of valid and invalid ballot papers is being done in all the 27 districts. After this process, the counting of votes will be done properly. Counting of votes in Ayodhya Collectorate started at 12 tables under tight security. Observer Anamika Singh is also present. Here the fate of BJP’s Hari Om Pandey, Samajwadi Party’s Hiralal Yadav and independent candidate Narendra Dev is likely to be decided by noon. Returning Officer Nitish Kumar and Assistant Returning Officer Amit Singh are also present at the counting site.
Counting of votes for the Kanpur- Fatehpur Legislative Council seat in Fatehpur has started from 8 am in the Collectorate building. Here the ballot boxes were brought out amid tight security. Here the work of sorting of votes started in the presence of BJP and SP agents.

Nine MLCs have been elected unopposed from the constituencies of eight local authorities namely Badaun, Hardoi, Kheri, Mirzapur-Sonbhadra, Banda-Hamirpur, Aligarh, Bulandshahr and Mathura-Etah-Mainpuri. In which two MLCs have been elected unopposed from the constituency of Mathura-Eta-Mainpuri Local Authority, while one MLC each from the rest of the constituencies. With the MLC election results out, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to get a majority in the council. At present, the BJP has 33 members and the Samajwadi Party 17 members in the 100-seat Legislative Council. BSP and Congress did not participate in this election.
