Telangana Budget Session creates a row when announced without Governor’s address

The Telangana Legislature’s budget session starting without the usual Governor’s address has created a row and invited criticism from the opposition parties BJP and Congress. However, experts are of the opinion that there is no break of the rules.

Telangana DGP Mahender Reddy joins duty

The session is set to start on 7 March this year and it will be Finance Minister T Harish Rao who will be showing the budget on the same day. An official press release about the same was published a few days ago.

However, this new move has got a lot of backlash from the State BJP President and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar who have criticized Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Roa, who is also known as KCR. The criticism comes for removing the address by Governor in the budget session.

This is being mentioned about KCR’s recent comments that favor setting up a new constitution in the nation. Earlier, Mr. Kumar had also written on Twitter how KCR wants to get away with rules, traditions and rewrite the Indian Constitution. He has strongly blamed KCR for taking such a decision to do away with the Governor’s speech.

BJP MP Dharmapuri Aravind and other party leaders have also blamed the TRS government for not including the address by the Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in the new budget sesion.

However, there is one leader among the BJP leaders who have made an exception to this thought process and he is none other than State Legislative Affairs Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy who has stated that the Governor’s address is not being included in the budget session because the new budget session is only the next part or continuation of the previous session which has not been dissolved yet.

Talking about the provisions of the constitution, he said that the Governor is actually having the role of addressing the budget session only when a new session takes place in a calendar year. In the past as well, there have been incidents when the Governor’s address was not featured in the budget session, said Mr. Reddy.

In another report, it has been said that the BJP has held a legislature party meeting that had its party state president Bandi Sanjay in which it was decided that different problems related to the public will be discussed in the Telangana Budget Session. Also, the TRS government will be exposed for its failures, drawbacks, and loopholes in various spheres in the past seven years.

In the party legislature meeting, Bandi Sanjay Kumar has asked the BJP MLAs to ensure to utilize the budget session in their favor and make its party strong in the coming days. He said that a strategic stand has to be adopted in which people’s issues will be focused. It will also provide a positive message to the people of the state that the BJP is fighting for their problems and cause.

As per a report, the BJP party will be addressing the issues in the session such as laxity in the structure of double bedroom houses, non-filling up of job vacancies, non-payment of unemployment allowance, controversy over GO No. 317, podu cultivation, failure of the state government in procuring paddy during Yasangi (Rabi) season, neglect to make payment for crop loss, non-issuance of new ration cards, abnormalities in Aasara pensions, indiscriminate sale of liquor and responsibility on the people due to flawed policies in education and healthcare.
