Reminding all the stakeholders that it has already extended the deadline until November 30 to submit the recommendations for the award of PSM and MSM, the MHA sent out a second letter on November 24—that is, within eight days total.

Consequently, the letter requested that nominees for the PSM and MSM awards be submitted by November 30, 2023, at the latest. The letter was forwarded by the MHA to all state and territory chief secretaries, home secretaries, and directors general of police. A similar letter was also addressed to the Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, other Central organizations and departments, and the heads of the Intelligence Bureau and the Central Bureau of Investigative Services.
The letter has also been forwarded to the Commandant General of Home Guards for the states and UTs, every department within the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the heads of all fire departments, directors of civil defense agencies, and prisons.
The action was taken in spite of requests from the states, UTs, CAPFs, CPOs, and other interested parties to extend the deadline for nomination proposals for a variety of reasons. Prior to this, November 17 was set as the deadline for offering the nomination recommendations.
