News Desk – On the occasion of Constitution Day on Wednesday (November 26, 2025), Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to the people of India, urging them to follow their Constitutional duties and contribute to building a Viksit Bharat (developed India).
PM Modi described the Indian Constitution as a “sacred document” that has guided the country with clarity for decades. He recalled that in 2015, his government declared November 26 as Constitution Day to honour the adoption of the Constitution.
The Prime Minister said it was because of the power of the Constitution that a person like him, who came from a humble and poor background, could serve as the Head of Government for more than 24 years.
He shared memories from 2014, when he first entered Parliament and bowed at its steps, and again in 2019, when he placed the Constitution on his forehead in respect. “The Constitution has given people like me the power to dream and the strength to achieve those dreams,” he said.
Why This Year’s Constitution Day Is Special
PM Modi said this year’s celebration is significant for several reasons:
150th birth anniversaries of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Birsa Munda.
He praised Sardar Patel’s role in unifying India politically.
He said Patel’s guidance inspired the removal of Article 370 and 35A, allowing the Constitution to apply fully in Jammu & Kashmir.
150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, a song that strengthens India’s unity.
350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, whose courage and sacrifice continue to guide the nation.
PM Modi said these leaders remind us of the importance of Fundamental Duties, listed in Article 51A of the Constitution.
Looking Ahead to 2049
The Prime Minister noted that 2049 will mark 100 years since the Constitution was adopted. The decisions taken today, he said, will shape the future of coming generations.
