News Desk – Maharashtra has announced December 6 as a holiday this year to honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his death anniversary, called Mahaparinirvan Diwas.

This day is set aside to remember and reflect on Dr. Ambedkar’s significant contributions to Indian society, especially his role in framing the Indian Constitution and his efforts to promote equality and social justice.

State and semi-government offices in Mumbai and the surrounding suburbs will be closed to observe this day. This holiday is one of several recognized locally by the Maharashtra government, including Dahi Handi and Ganesh Visarjan.

Dr. Ambedkar, often referred to as Babasaheb, remains a celebrated figure in Indian history for his advocacy for the marginalized and his vision of a just society.
