During a time when there are tensions between Russia and Ukraine that have led to the world crisis, India has announced to push ahead of the dates of its Defence Exhibition titled Defexpo 2022. The event dates were scheduled from 10 March to 14 March 2022 to be held in Gandhinagar of Gujarat.

It has been reported that the event was supposed to host over 1,000 companies from various countries including the US, Russia, France, and many different parts of Europe in the biennial event. However, the logistics difficulties of the participants made the DefExpo-2022 to be postponed and the new dates will be communicated by the officials in the due time, said Defence Ministry spokesperson Bharat Bhushan Babu said in a tweet and also in a statement to the media.

For the unaware, the DefExpo is being conducted every two years at various locations. It helps the companies of the country to show their military products to the world market. The global firms also get an opportunity to show their products at the event. Earlier, the previous DefExpo was conducted in Lucknow and the earlier editions were also organized in Chennai and Goa. Before these locations, the DefExpo always was present to be held in the national capital Delhi.
We are in March first week of 2022, and with just a week to go, it felt really sad to cancel the event amid the tensions that are going on in the world due to the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Almost 70 nations had shown their interest to take part in the large defence event, which is supposed to develop upon the aim to achieve self-reliance in the defence sector and $5 billion defence exports goal by 2024. You would be astonished to note that till last month 22nd of February 2022, almost 930 exhibitors had completed their registration process for the event, as per the reports. The DefExpo 2022 was to be organized as a hybrid exhibition event having stalls in both physical and online sections. The exhibition was designed in a three-venue format such as an exhibition at the Helipad Exhibition Centre (HEC); events and seminars at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC); and a live rally for the public on the Sabarmati riverfront.
It was indeed a premier defence exhibition that was supposed to witness 121 foreign exhibitors from 63 nations that too on the huge exhibition on land, naval, and homeland security systems of Asia. The event was an attempt to improve the investments and also increase the manufacturing abilities and capacities of the nation. It is an effort to explore the opportunities for new technology interventions and thus achieve the goal of having $5 billion defence exports by 2024.
In earlier reports, it was said that the Defence Ministry had announced that this year the Defence Expo will have an event titled Invest4iDEX, where startup companies will be able to share their ideas in front of a live audience that will also include well-known investors and venture capitalists.
