Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government led by Adityanath is planning to establish cow sanctuaries in 30 districts of the state. Besides this, the government is planning to increase the capacity of the shelters for abandoned cattle.

During the UP Polls, the issue of abandoned cattle was raised by the local people. Even prime minister Narendra Modi said in a public meeting that the government will resolve the issue. The whole of the plan is ready, as the government is elected, it will be imposed. The sources say that in this context only the government is planning of establishing the ‘cow sanctuaries.’ Besides this, in 100 days plan, the government has set up a target of arranging shelters for 50 thousand abandoned cattle.
One of the officials of the animal husbandry department of the government said that we are making a plan that will be executed once it gets sanctioned by the chief minister. Sanctuaries will be established in those areas, where there are forests. Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich and Pilibhit are few which have been identified.

There are 11.84 lakhs stray cattle
In 2019, a survey was done regarding stray cattle in Uttar Pradesh. According to it, there are 11.84 abandoned cattle in the state. The government claims that it provides shelter to 9.30 lakhs. The focus is to accommodate the remaining all. The government is also planning to produce biogas, organic manures with cow dung, and other things too so that the cost of sheltering these cattle are met up.
