According to the finance minister, the PM Modi administration overcome these hurdles and implemented fine changes. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Union Finance Minister Nirmla Sitharaman unveiled the interim budget on Thursday.

With its creative programs promoting the use of renewable energy and its thoughtful investment in healthcare and agriculture, this budget presents a vision for sustainable development and inclusive growth. The main points of the interim budget for 2024 are as follows:

Solar energy on rooftops and free electricity: Rooftop solarization will benefit 1 crore households by supplying up to 300 units of free electricity per month. Benefits such as potential savings of between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 18,000 and the ability to sell excess electricity to discoms are anticipated.

Encouragement of post-harvest activities: The government should encourage both public and private investment in post-harvest operations, such as supply chain aggregation, processing, modern storage marketing, and branding.

Extension of Nano DSP application: In light of Nano Urea’s success, Nano DAP will be applied to a wider range of crops in all agroclimatic zones.

Middle class housing: the introduction of a program to help worthy segments of the middle class who are residing in chawls, slums, rental properties, or unapproved colonies purchase or construct their own homes.

Extension of Medical Colleges: The government intends to use the infrastructure of already-existing hospitals to establish additional medical colleges. A committee will be established to conduct an analysis and provide recommendations.

Girls between the ages of 8 and 14 should be encouraged to get vaccinated in order to prevent cervical cancer.

Comprehensive program for mother and child healthcare: To improve implementation synergy, different programs under the maternal and child healthcare umbrella should be combined into a single, comprehensive program.

Extensive Ayushman Bharat coverage: All ASHA, Anganwadi, and helper employees now have access to healthcare coverage under Ayushman Bharat.

Increased value-added efforts in agriculture and food processing will increase farmers’ income, with an emphasis on lowering post-harvest losses and raising incomes and productivity.

Aatma Nirbhar Oilseeds Abhiyan: Developing a plan to help oilseeds become self-sufficient through research and the use of contemporary farming methods.

Program for dairy development: creation of an all-encompassing support system for dairy farmers that makes use of current initiatives to boost output.

Matsya Sampada: The government’s initiatives to create separate departments for fishermen and to encourage investment in the sector in order to create job opportunities.

Encouraging Investment: Steps taken to support consistent foreign investment, such as bilateral investment treaty negotiation and the provision of Rs 75,000 crores.

Social Shifts: Establishing a strong committee to provide recommendations for all-encompassing solutions to problems brought on by population growth and demographic shifts.

Updated Estimates for 2023–2024: The revised estimates show that taxes will make up Rs. 23.24 lakh crores of total receipts, with the remaining 27.56 lakh crores coming from sources other than borrowing.
