The 3 laws, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, are set to come in affect from 1 July, as states. The new laws aim at an entire overhaul of the British-generation laws, giving a clear definition of terrorism, abolishing sedition as a crime, and introducing a new phase titled “offenses towards the state,” — amongst many other changes. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023

This replaces the Indian Penal Code of 1860. Sedition has been deleted; however, another provision penalizing secessionism, separatism, rebellion, and acts towards the sovereignty, team spirit, and integrity of India has been added. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023

“In practice of laws conferred with the aid of sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (46 of 2023), the Central Government hereby appoints the 1st day of July 2024 because the date on which the provisions of the said Sanhita, besides the provisions of the entry regarding section 106(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in the First Schedule, shall come into pressure,” MHA notification stated.

3 new bills in Lok Sabha
