Lucknow: The tenure of Uttar Pradesh DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi is about to end. It is an election year, so talks have started about who will be the new DGP of UP. For this a list of 31 officers of the Indian Police Service has been prepared. It is being told that a list of 31 IPS officers from 1986 to 1990 batch has been prepared. But the bigger news is that Mr. Awasthi has rejected the Yogi government’s proposal for extension of service. He was getting extension of service till January 2022.
In this list prepared to select the DGP of the country’s largest state in terms of population, the names of all the officers of DG rank as well as the names of IPS officers who have completed 30 years of service have also been included in the list. Current DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi will retire on June 30. After Hitesh Chandra Awasthi, the name of Nasir Kamal, posted in the Government of India, tops the DG rank officers who have a tenure of one year or more. But in the election year, it is difficult for Nasir Kamal to become DGP in Uttar Pradesh.

ADG BSF 88 batch IPS Mukul Goyal is in the forefront of the strong claim. Mukul Goyal is considered an officer with a good hold in western Uttar Pradesh. Due to being ADG Law and Order in the SP government, there is also a long experience of handling the law and order of the state, but the question is whether Mukul Goyal’s proximity to the SP leaders will become a hindrance in his path.
