New Delhi: AIIMS chief Dr Randeep Guleria said on Saturday that the third wave of the corona epidemic may knock in the country in the next 6-8 weeks and it is impossible to stop it.
Dr Guleria while worrying about the third wave said that as we have started to unlock, there is again a lack of corona-appropriate behaviour. We have not learned from what happened between the first and second wave. The crowd is increasing again. People are gathering in huge numbers. If this continues, it will not take much time for the number of corona cases to increase at the national level. This can happen within the next 6 to 8 weeks. Or it may take a little longer than that.
He further said that it all depends on how we proceed in terms of covid-appropriate behavior and prevention of crowding. He said that a new wave can usually take up to three months, but it can take much less time depending on different factors. Also, apart from the covid protocol, we need to ensure strict monitoring. Last time we saw a new variant, which came from outside and evolved here.
