New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has announced a relief of Rs one crore each to the families of those killed in a gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam. In addition, the injured will be provided with cash assistance. So far 13 people have died due to leakage of stearin gas from LG Polymers Limited’s plant located at Venkatapuram village under Gopalapatnam near Visakhapatnam.
This deadly gas engulfed the villages located within a radius of five kilometers. In this tragedy, hundreds of people are facing difficulty in breathing and other troubles. One eight-year-old child is also among the dead, while several policemen who went to evacuate the affected people have also been affected. In addition, two people fell into a borewell while escaping from the affected village, killing them.
State IT and Industry Minister M Gautam Reddy said in a series of tweets that a helpdesk has been set up in the office of the General Manager in the Department of Industries in Visakhapatnam.
