New Delhi: Tribal activist Stan Swamy, who was arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act, has passed away after prolonged illness. He was arrested last year in the Elgar Parishad case. His lawyer informed the Bombay High Court on Monday today. 84-year-old Jesuit priest and activist Stan Swamy was on ventilator support since yesterday.
In a petition filed through his lawyer Mihir Desai earlier this year for interim bail on medical grounds, Swamy had claimed that he was suffering from several ailments, including Parkinson’s. Swamy was found infected with coronavirus in the hospital last month, after which he was transferred to the ICU.
