News Desk – A tragic event occurred at the Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, where six people died, and over 40 were injured due to a stampede on Wednesday night. This incident happened while distributing tokens for an upcoming religious event.
Hundreds of worshippers from different parts of the country had come to get tokens for the Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam, a special 10-day viewing of the deity that starts on Friday. The crowd grew large and unruly by the evening, leading to the stampede.
The temple officials were handing out these tokens at a school near another temple when the crowd became too much to handle, causing chaos and leading to the deadly stampede.
The chief minister, the prime minister, and the union home minister have all expressed their sadness over this tragic event. The chief minister also said that he was unhappy with how the temple officials managed the crowd and has planned to visit the injured.
A member of the temple’s board admitted there were some management mistakes and promised strict actions, though he regretted that the lives lost could not be brought back.
This unfortunate incident has left the community and the nation in mourning, highlighting the need for better crowd management during such significant events.
