Bhopal: Torrential rain during the past 24 hours has caused flood-like situation in many areas across Madhya Pradesh, official sources said on Monday. The capital city Bhopal which has received over three inches of rainfall in just four hours it predicted to be one of the worst-hit areas. The sky remained cloudy throughout the state since Saturday. Cars were filmed ploughing through floodwater beneath a blanket of clouds, and commuters were seen wading through ankle-deep water in different parts of the capital city.

Meanwhile, three Bhopal-bound flights were cancelled because of heavy rain, Raja Bhoj airport authorities. Due to the heavy downpour in the catchment areas of Kanhan river in Satpura valley and the opening of all the 16 gates of the Navegaon-Khairy reservoir, there is heavy flooding in the Kanhan river. Because of this, vehicular movement on the national highway connecting Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh) and Nagpur (Maharashtra) was stopped early on Monday. Heavy rain lashed many districts including Morena, Chhindwara, Bhopal and Indore. Flood-like situations were witnessed in districts like Saunsar in Chhindwara, Morena and many others. The incessant rain also caused heavy loss to farmers.
