Amid the rise in COVID tension across the world the Tamil Nadu government has started its preparation to counter the virus. The new variant BF7 has already been detected in India.

The new variant is deadly, keeping the situation in mind PM Modi held a high-level meeting early on Thursday regarding the new variant. According to official reports, 480 people have already died due to this new variant.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister chaired a high-level meeting early on Friday regarding the COVID situation in the state, he addressed that the state must be prepared to face and tackle if the cases increase in Tamil Nadu. Following this, he stated that 97 percent of the population in the state has received the first dose of vaccination and 92 percent have received their second dose.

According to the information received the health department has directed the citizens to wear masks during Christmas and new-year celebrations, and maintain a safe distance to avoid the contamination of the virus. The state public authority has asked the center to do proper check-ups of passengers coming from China.

The Chief Minister has further directed all Internationals passengers with COVID symptoms shall be treated properly, and their testing will be done with the Standard Operation Process.

According to an official statement from the chief minister’s office, the state is well-equipped with all the facilities to tackle the new variant. Oxygen, beds, and medicine has been adequately supplied to all the hospitals. The state government has decided to conduct whole genome sequencing to detect new variants.
