In a move to ensure better road safety, the government announced mandatory airbags in cars of all sizes and ranges. Minister of Road Transport and Highways; Nitin Gadkari today announced via a tweet that  all cars should contain minimum six airbags and this will be mandatory from October 1, 2023 onwards.

The car makers have been given relief for one year considering the challenges being faced by the auto industry in terms supply chain constraints scenario. Earlier this was to be implemented from October 2022 itself.
