New Delhi: The Supreme court will hear the petition in connection with the bail petition of social activist Teesta Setalvad. She was arrested for allegedly fabricating evidence to frame “innocent people” in the Gujarat riot cases, sources said on Tuesday. The Gujarat riots took place after burning of Kar Sevaks on the Sabarmati Express in 2002.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia. In an order, the bench said, “Because of the paucity of time, the matter could not be taken up. List this matter at 3pm on Thursday.”

Responding to the bail petition, the Gujarat government said that the activist had enacted the conspiracy at the behest of a politician who had allegedly given her money for that.
