Jaipur: Sources in Raj Bhavan said that the Governor of Rajasthan has received a revised proposal from the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot requesting that the session of the assembly be convened on 31 July. The proposal was received by the Governor from Gehlot cabinet late Saturday night.
Earlier on Friday, the state’s CM Ashok Gehlot had called on Governor Kalraj Mishra and called for an assembly session. At the same time, on the lawn of Raj Bhavan, Congress MLAs sat on a sit-in for about five hours. After which Governor Mishra sought clarification on six points from the state government. Kalraj Mishra had said that when the Gehlot government has majority, why are they demanding a special session in this epidemic crisis.
On Saturday, the Gehlot government called a cabinet meeting once again, to discuss the new proposal. At the moment, pro-Gehlot MLAs are staying at the resort in Jaipur. CM Gehlot alleges that BJP and Sachin Pilot faction are conspiring to topple their government.
There were reports of meeting both CM Gehlot and the Governor on Saturday, but in the evening the Congress clarified that no meeting had been held. At the same time, the BJP met Kalraj Mishra and discussed the situation of Corona in the state. Gehlot said that if needed, he will meet the President and the Prime Minister will sit on the residence.
