Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday raided several places in Jammu and Kashmir and arrested five persons in connection with terrorism financing.
Official sources said that NIA officers with the help of state police and paramilitary forces raided several places in Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla districts early today. “So far, four persons have been arrested from Anantnag and one from Srinagar during the raids,” sources said.
According to sources, raids are still going on at some places. This case is related to online terrorist activities and in this regard information about the contacts of foreign terrorists is being sought.
The raids came a day after the sacking of 11 government employees from Kashmir, including two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin. All of them have been sacked for their alleged involvement in terror-financing activities. The services of these employees were terminated under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, under which no inquiry takes place. The action has been taken following a recommendation by a designated committee in the Union Territory to look into such matters.
